SANDF aims to shut down illegal border crossing points

The army on Monday promised to protect the countrys border farms from theft and violent crime.


Defence Minister Lindiwe Sisulu outlined the plan on Monday and said currently about 650 soldiers will participate in the project, which will expand over the next three years.

Currently, the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) will watch over properties bordering Swaziland, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

AgriSAs Andre Botha SAID farmers would also need to contribute by making resources available to the soldiers and helping the SANDF shut down illegal crossing points.
