Just curious. Does anyone have one of these? If so whats your experiences with it? Google is pretty empty when it comes to search results. Overseas Android updating tools or Android Desktop Managers don't even recognize it. I recently bought one though and my only gripe is I can't seem to sort out receiving SMS messages, can send though. Otherwise its mostly fine.

Looked at it at IC - its 'ok'. Screen is dark and it feels a bit dated

Aunt has one which I have setup for her. It's one of those you get what you paid for. As mentioned u can't find any information for it on google. Don't think you ever get any stock updates to newer versions of Android, unless you root it and put custom roms.
The preloaded apps I don't know where they even found them, just load proper Google Play store and get all the proper versions like adobe reader and so on. I found found the screen resolution a bit low and not as crispy and clear as the Samsung Tabs.

Did not find any major problems with it except it feels a tad slow, but not by much.

As for OP my aunt's tab had no problems with SMS, but can't remember doing anything weird to get it working.

Edit:
O yeah I think it has a dialer included, but you can't make voice calls or it does not support voice calls - I don't think tabs were meant for voice calls, but just mentioning.

O yeah another thing whatsapp is not supported on your device : (

I got the whatsapp to work btw. Just side loaded the apk bypassing the appstore. No problems

I bought one of these for my daughter for Christmas. It worked ok for three weeks, until due to the heat in Pretoria last week, the screen cracked. We woke up one morning and the glass had a crack across it!

Hi-Fi Corp will not honour the warranty nor will they repair it, so it is now an expensive doorstopper. Be aware that these "no name" brand tablets do not carry the same after sales service that the major brands have. Be careful.

Why not look at getting second hand iPad2 off gumtree, you'll never look back!

I am inclined to agree with both Yomase and Hemps. Sansui and Hi-Fi corp have terrible after-sales service. I have phoned Hi-Fi Corp 3 times trying to get the tablet to receive SMS messages, every time I am promised a call back with a solution which never happens. As for Sansui itself, I have not been able to make contact with them weather it be email or telephone all year round, there simply just isn't anyone on the other side. Luckely this was just a toy for me to see if I could make use of a tablet in my every day life, so far I am not impressed and would recommend a ipad or samsung tab if you don't want to be frustrated

My tablet crashes about once a month. Has anyone been able to successfully root the ETAB801 tablet? I tried Towelroot and Bin4ry both unsuccessful :(
