Any other customers received the mail ...

-----------------------------------------------------------------
We would like to inform all clients of scheduled system maintenance on 1 March 2006 between 10H00 and 22H00. All services will experience intermittent downtime during this time.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

You can't cut off internet on a public holiday ... That's the only time most of us will be on during the day ...

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :(

Nope, its not. We should all be out voting on that day, not using the internet. and voting for the ANC ONLY of course :) (ok fine, or the FF+)

they are resellers ... the internet will only be down if saix is down. Mail etc might be down...

It really sucks as I was looking forward to do some serious browsing in the afternoon. Couldn't another day be found for this maintenance? Like maybe a normal business day when normal time would be paid for maintenance instead of double-time.

But you can go vote quickly in the morning, as the IEC will make sure that the election process is free fair and fast ... and then you have the rest of the day for internet

they will probably be just sorting out their supercharged turbo deluxo lighting fast IPC network...:p which might affect users.

As if they can sort that IPC thing out, havent in the 2 months I was with them, good riddance to bad rubbish.

It always says it can authenticate me on the domain, retry connecting 5 times and then suddenly it works, mmm, they will join the other company in my signiture on 1st of March.

SAOL just keeps getting worse .... what kind of scheduled maintenance do they need to do for pretty much the entire day .... surely they should plan better ...
probably a way for them to save some bandwidth :)

Mmmm - we're on the SAOL 10 Gb package and up to now, I'm quite happy with it. My only complaint really is that we *never* get any of these alleged emails they send out - wtf?

EXACTLY !!! And if you try point this out the only response you get is " well we sent it out".
I only found out about the 10GB price change because I decided to read the scrawl on the homepage, since I use the site to check my usage.

I do think most maintenance should be done during off-peak hours, pretty much between 11pm and 7am.

as inconvenient it would be to SAOL customers, one can only hope their service improves with this scheduled downtime - lets wait and see, however i'll be with my new isp by the 1st
