Just wanted to vent as to the uselessness of SAOL tech support and in general its service. We pay a heck of alot for a 20gig account with them and have for a long time and for the past month speeds have been terrible, and tonight for instance it was taking 6 - 7 mins for speedtest.net to load and about a minutes for a local site to load.
So I phoned SAOL and the tech support answers with a simple "Hello" no "Hi, This is SAOL how u doing?" so I ask about the internet and he just says it all looks clear from his side and offer no offer advice as to how to speed up my line which is 4mb by the way acting like a 0.02mb line
so he said there is nothing he can do as he just provides the bandwidth and telkom provides the speed of the line, which basically meant he was blaming telkom, to which I replied I am going to get a friends account and test the line. He didnt even care and said good bye.
So I put in my friends mweb 384 uncapped account and my line is fine, its funny watching speedtest.net doing its thing as it starts off at like 100kb/s and then mweb slows it down to 41kb/s
So this is just a warning that SAOL is not keeping up with progress of the internet in SA, which we can see by them cancelling their only uncapped offering.
Anybody else have similar experiences?
