saol

at R499, i'd rather pay the extra in and Pay R680 and take 30gig from All you can Eat. Its now only a R180 difference (R331 more from R349pm)

Sorry for you SAOL!.

Too rich for my blood, I can not justify that :(

I'll have to go with telkom and see how soon they cap me. Then I might go with AYCE...but then I need to start making more money. I knew SAOL couldnt last. I'll be back to you guys as soon as things are sorted out and prices are acceptable...

And yes Marko, its still cheaper than most, but far too expensive for home users...

Thanks enx, we will look forward to your business when we can once again offer the most affordable solutions available.

regardless of what everyone says you guys are a decent service provider, and after some thought - I wont be going to Telkom.

Will the 499 accounts allow 2 logins?

I'm only considering going with AYCE because they seem to be putting up a fight, and I want to support the independent ISPs who are fighting telkom...

Just curious, why the sudden price increase? Was the cheap packages just for some market penetration. It would be an interesting exercise to see how much money you made with say 200 users paying R349, or 75 users paying R499? (those figures are obviously hypothetical)

The new 10GB accounts will allow 2 concurrent sessions.

For Mr. Jones: As I explained earlier, we set the price at R349 in November last year, in the hope that some sort of sanity would prevail in the per-gig pricing imposed by SAIX, and we have always endeavoured to offer the lowest prices to our customers. We are not raising the price for any reason other than we now have no choice, but should circumstances change, we will not hesitate in passing lower prices onto our clients.

marco could you tell us how many ppl you have on the 10 gig account

then tell us jan usage so far? for all of them

is this possible

As I've said before somwhere in these forums, I dont envy the ISP's at all.

We are not at liberty to divulge confidential information, and it would not be to anyones benefit to do so.

well it would tell us i mean say 1000 ppl at 10 gigs

10000 gigs

now if only 5000 gigs where used you could easily keep the pricing the same

Without going into details, we have done the figures, and at the end of the day, we are losing more money than can be acceptably absorbed by our other services. Believe me when I say that at R349 for 10GB, lower end users included, our under-usage did not cover the cost of the grouped bandwidth.

Here is a question for you Marko:

Will there be less problems with logins after the price increase?

We can only hope.

But seriously, the login problems are being attended to.

Well thats to be expected. When they order their ADSLline, 90% the "light" cluesless, e-mail only ADSL users will say yes when asked if they want a Telkom Internet account. People who take the time and effort to find a better deal, are far more likely to be heavier users. You know, the kind of people ADSL is actually designed for (except in South Africa). I would be VERY suprised if many SAOL 10 Gig users use much less than 10 gigs.

Just another carriage on the Gravy Train. Government Corruption : 1, SA People : 0

I am so sick of it! Last night on BBC they were talking about internet radio, internet tv and whole pile of other stuff ... I don't think I will see those stuff in SA in my lifetime! for 5 years the 3GB cap remains a standard here, what are the chances there will be any improvement over the next say 30 years! Probably 0!

Lo ppl,
I must say all the talk all u can eat and SAOL and all those ppl as for the fact that they soft cap or flexy cap call it what u want the local seen how does it work.
I would would like 20 gig overseas access and then whatever is used local why can they not do that do u guys think nobody has the teghnology
to monitor local/overseas connections/traffic.I think they do and they are just trying to make a quick extra buck while telkom is,is the head of this snake because they control everybody else so from now on i call them the Puppet master.

So i am waiting for the DOTCO Case to get to the ending and before that nothing will change.

LOL....
