I have this opportunity at work to join the sap hr team. I am currently doing sap authorisations at work but we use securinfo which is a third party tool. This is a great opportunity to work with sap , I just need some advice on what to expect and your views on sap hr

Software is fantastic and run by plus minus 80% of large companies out there. The most difficult part is payroll and pays the most. Organisation management is very interesting.

I have a quite bit of experience with a modelling tool that some organisations use in conjunction with SAP HR in order to model their organisation structures. In my very limited experience, one of the biggest challenges seems to be to keep your HR data current, this is at least true for two large mining companies. Restructuring within the organisation seems to put the SAP HR team under quite a bit of pressure. That's unfortunately all I can contribute.

Off topic: How did you folks get into SAP? Certifications? I have quite a bit of Java development experience under the belt which as I understand it, is used alongside ABAP. It's a future career path I'm considering but I know very little about the SAP environment apart from some experience with SAP Solution Manager.

I have an IT qualification and the position was advertised at work, lucky for me they were willing to training me.Those courses are expensive.

They are indeed! That's actually what prompted the question, I was wondering whether there were other ways to get a foot in. Anyway, I wish you well should you decide to take the opportunity and hope you get your answers in the thread.
