This question has probably been asked a million times by now...but im looking for info in our current situations;)

is it still worth doing a SAP certification? specifically ABAP or BW as i already enjoy business intellligence and when i went to study i had the intention of codind...but became more of a generalist developer.
i am currently working(first job)...for just over a year now and few months at a company..we do microsoft development...mostly bi, SSAS,SSIS,SSRS the odd java script and .net app customisation of currently existing apps.

being at a young age and ignorrant to the world...i started a job and went with it...now im looking for direction...is it worth stayin in the microsoft space? will it be as rewarding as SAP? im sure some of the more experienced guys out there will able to provide some insight any will be greatly appreciated!

Go and look on job sites for jobs specific to SAP. I think there are plenty, at least overseas sites (xing.com, monster.de).

From personal experience, i can tell you that it is worth it, when you start in SAP your salary will be small, and that will not change for the first 2 years, but once you have your certification, and you have that 2 years, you will never look back...

Is SAP Certification quite expensive?
Or do you plan on just writing the certification exam?

i do belive it is quite expensive and if i do, do it it will be the courses first then the exam....but i find it hard to distinguish whether or not they will take over microsofts market in the near future...seems like abit of tug-of-war to me!!

AFAIK , the course duration is abt 4 or 5 weeks. Total cost around 90K.

It depends what you do. as an abaper you will always have work, but nowdays you have to compete against our buddies in India. A Module Specialist ( FI, MM, SD, etc ) still have their place too, but you need the actualy business experience for that more than the IT skilset.

So what do you wanna get certified in ? Most of the acadamy courses are 6 weeks.

I'd say get abap knowledge first, then while youre earing some mula as a programmer start learning stuff like BI. Youre gonna find it very hard to do one of the traditional modules without the business background of that module.
