I've been getting into pilchards lately. Less bone to fish ratio if I'm saying that right. I mean sardines have too much bones for the fish you get, don't really notice it with the pilchards.

Yeah R34.99 at PnP. I tried one today, seemed quite salty in comparison to others I've had. Thinking of returning the remaining 4 cans




These expensive 'brisling sardines' are from Latvia, they taste the best to me. Pricing recently went up 10% Maybe time to switch over to shredded tuna instead!

hmmm, in all the time this thread existed I have not struggled to find sardines in olive oil at all

Blue Crane is always in at least one of the local shops, be it PnP or Food Lovers etc
King Oscar though is near impossible to find, I rate that higher quality than Blue Crane ... where does one get that these days?

R55 for 84g drained fish weight equates to R655/kg.
Far better and cheaper fresh fish to be had at those prices.

Yes I could never understand the whole food in a can thing. Nothing taste good and so expensive compared to buying fresh. Only canned food we buy mostly is Tuna for sandwiches etc.
