SARS’ missing R489 billion

SARS is missing nearly R489 billion in undisputed tax revenue, as the agency struggles with the scale of unpaid taxes, and taxpayers face growing pressure as enforcement intensifies.
 
At this point SARS is seen as the enemy by the vast majority of taxpayers, a position they created for themselves and the consequences of they will have to accept and deal with. The days where people believed the government acted in their best interests and where they believed their money was doing good are long gone. While most will continue to declare their incomes and pay their taxes, the grey areas will continue to be exploited by people who no longer believe in the states right to hard earned cash.
