Hi

A friend of mines submitted their form awhile ago and now got this message saying "Dear Taxpayer, you are reminded that Rxxx is due by the end of December for your Income Tax debt"

Anything they can do to sort this out?

But they submitted, what if it's an error??

How can one be sure

Yes they did it at SARS office.

So what can she do now?

Okay so it seems like they made an error on their side because an sms says "issued 2015 ITR12" even though it was supposed to be for IT34.

So the person that did it must have made a mistake.

An ITR12 is the form that you fill in when submitting your tax return (for individuals). The ITR12 is normally issued to you to fill out (although it happens mostly automatically / electronically now days) so that you can submit it back to SARS. An IT34 (or ITA34 as its called now days) is basically a letter which tells you the result of your tax submission, i.e if you owe SARS money, or if they owe you money and how much. So the two are pretty different things.

If not doing it online, the best is always to gather up all your supporting documentation (just in case) and go to a branch to query it and sort it out. If she feels the result on the ITA34 is incorrect she can lodge a dispute.

Thanks hey!

Will let them know and have them go to the SARS office.

Are you sure that it is a legit SMS from SARS?
Maybe someone is trying to scam your friend.
