There were several reports of SARS implementing a new system as well.

Most of you will have noticed that the assesment forms are not available yet - quite close to the usual "deadline" for submitting.

There were several reports that a new system was being implemented, and because of this the new assesment forms were not mailed yet.

Are these the first signs of SARS doing an eNatis?

SARS has always had eFilling for a while now, and it worked quite brilliantly last time around.

SARS is not afraid to spend on top-notch infrastructure and skills and that is why their systems seem so stable. So I don't think they will ever have the same sort of problems eNatis is having.

SARS would never allow a monumental f@#kup like eNatis. There is no way they'd go a whole month without tax collection!!

Spot on, the only department in government that operates with any from of efficiency is SARS, because that is where the gravy comes from.

There is going to be an entire new system for the Smartcard ID's .. from Passports, SARS , ID Books, Traffic, Marriages, Criminal records, death certificates, fingerprints, handprints, Photos etc etc are all going to be integrated. Some of the system is already in pilot phase :-P

Wait a while, it will be out soon :-P (thats all I can write)

@ RichardP if this new project is going to be handled by the current home affairs big wigs, then a balls up is definitely coming up in the near future

Hopefully Msimang can change that, however I think he has even more of a challange than what SITA was when he took it over. I guess time will tell.

Dear SARS, while you are busy revamping, please remove me from your mailing list.
