SARS E-Filing 2016

At my previous employer people got happy when they got their bonuses, which was just them deducting a percentage set by yourself from your monthly salary, and then giving it back to you in December. I assume the negative people on here won't grant them that happiness either.

What BS. A Rand today is worth more than a Rand tomorrow. I'd rather take a monthly "increase" and leave the bonus completely. Unless that monthly bonus deduction is saved in a decent interest baring account.

Yeah it was total BS. I declined to take it coz it was of no use to me since I could rather use that money monthly.

And the audacity they had to call it a 'bonus'.

Thanks :)

Please excuse my lack of knowledge, but where can I request the return on efiling and the PSA?

I have had a look around and cannot find it, and do not want to mess with stuff I do not know about :)

On the left -> SARS Correspondence>Request Admin Penalty SOA.

Thanks, I did not even see the button on the right.

Best part, there was an extra R1400 from 2013 which I did not even know was due to me :)

Thanks for the help Signates

No problem. Just check the 2016 and 2013 assessment and make sure that you were not selected for audit verification. Uf you were selected, then you would need to submit the supporting documents. Probably only the IRP5 from the promo company you worked for.

You can also check your normal statemenet of account to see if it was flagged for verification.

Okay so guys my audit is finally completed with no adjustments....the due date on my statement says 1/8/16 ..could payment really take that long to come through sigh

True.

I got my 2014 return only on the 10th, despite filing it on the first.

About the people getting happy about it, it's understandable since it's a lump sum of money, especially if you didn't plan for it - even if it's your own money.

But what you describe there isn't a bonus but rather a 13th cheque.

But what you describe there isn't a bonus but rather a 13th cheque.

13th cheques are normally bonuses. Neither usually come out of your CTC (not technically anyway). Also, you can't specify the percentage you want to put away for a 13th cheque/bonus.

That only the SARS due date and not the date the payment will actually be made.

Go back to the first post in this thread, follow those steps and the statement will reflect the EFT payment date.

Hi Guys

Anybody know where do I declare my total taxable interest on my fixed deposit investment on my tax return?

Hi Guys

Anybody know where do I declare my total taxable interest on my fixed deposit investment on my tax return?

From what I saw there is a box at the beginning asking if you received any local/foreign income, if you tick yes, towards the bottom of the form there is a section where you put your total interest earned in.

Question: Is there a certain amount of interest that you must get before you are taxed, or is all interest taxed?

There is an exempt amount before tax is applied. All interest must be declared and the SARS tax calculator will take this into account.

SARS eFiling and Easy Equities

Ok, so it's that times of the year...

Started with small investments on Easy Equities.
This is the first time I will be doing filing with an IT3B and IT3C.

What do I do with it? Do I put amounts anywhere on my filing?
Do I just submit the doc to SARS? I do not see an upload button anywhere...

Thanks is advance.

OK, let me fix my post, it's for unit trusts, there is no portal, yet, if ever. The idiots moved over to a new platform/system end last year and that's supposedly the reason...
Aaaaah okay. I have a similar issue with Old Mutual. I have to activate different portals for various funds with them. Have to phone in each time to do that.

Submitted yesterday 05/07, shortly after I get a 'Awaiting Documents for Review' notice.

I redid all my logs of the past year (SARS no longer deems my company's reports as valid) and submitted them only to receive a 'Awaiting Documents for Audit' notice.

Fml.

Submitted on Monday and got the *Documents required for verification* - which is fine as i have them all. I am able to upload the IRP5 just fine but when i try upload the tax cert from Momentum (my med aid) it refuses saying the pdf is password protected. Checked the document properties and there is an *edit* password protection on the file but not an *Open* one. anyone know how i can resolve this?
