Yo..

I have been given the *cough* fun task of figuring out how to export data from the SARS Easyfile program, they're doing some PAYE recon, and they want it in XML..

Has anyone heard about this?

I don't know accounting kark :p

Yeah.. hey, I only got told about it on Friday or so :)

I just spoke to the developer. She said that when doing a manual electronic submission, the specified destination folder, will contain the XML file and is created automatically.

Furthermore, SARS is updating the website and EasyFile users may be unable to submit. If the website is not online by this afternoon, SARS will fall back to the old site.

Send me a mail if you need the developer's contact details.

We also wondered how the hell do you get the xml file, so what i did was open easyfile and on your left go to utilities i think and then make a backup of your database and i burned it to a disk and gave them that and they had no clue what to do with that file.

So i just explained to them over the phone to go to utilities and restore my backup and then follow the steps that they know to get the xml file.

This was on thursday and they declined about 40 employers disks containing that backup file the way i did it. So i told them what to do and all worked fine.

Must still figure out the steps to do it the correct way to get the xml file though.

The due date was moved 2 weeks. I submitted our companies last week Wednesday. Directly submitted from Easyfile while online through SARS E-Filing.

erm..

Can someone explain where the PDF/XML save is? Under utilities -> Backup it only outputs the database file.

  1. Go to menu option "Reconciliation Declaration"
  2. Fill in relevant details.
  3. When you choose "submit" it asks for submission type.
  4. Choose "electronic medium" (the other option is eFiling for direct submission via eFiling website).
  5. Click "submit".
  6. It asks for a location to save IRP5/IT3(a).
  7. Choose/create folder and save.

When you go the folder you saved in, you will see:
  • an EMP501 in PDF format.
  • an EMP501 in XML format.
  • a folder that contains all the IRP5/IT3(a) generated.

We've exported the PDF's with the XML file, but the XML does not look right and SARS told us they cannot open the file.

What can we do it was their program that created the file.

The content of the file looks like this,

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

It goes on like this till the end, this does not look like a proper XML file.

Edit: What is the latest version of easyfile for employers?
Edit: I think the version is 3.03, busy updating and will try the whole process again.
Edit: Apparently this is how SARS xml file looks like, I guess they have their own standards when it comes to xml
