SARS Easyfile Software Employer Version Updates

Now downloading 652 - extremely slow, but a bit faster than musiclover = 20KB/s

The "easyfile update service" sucks - automatic log out due to no activity in easyfile interrupts the download! So you have to fill in a form on the SARS efiling site to get the crappy software. Which still takes eons to download.
 
Is it just my impression or did the last two updates require you to completely reinstall everything, because it just hangs if you do the updgrade?
 
I have had the same problem a two different clients and on my own laptop. Just hangs after upgrade. I have tired completely uninstalling and re-installing but same problem.

Using Windows 7 x64 and Java 32 bit 8u40.

I logged into easyfile and it hung. I downloaded the latest java, same problem. Then I remembered my post above, and installed jre 6u43 windows x64 (without removing the latest java)

After installing that, easyfile did not hang at log in...

My emp501 is ready to file now...
 
Our payroll administrator managed to get the update done yesterday... she tried on Saturday and it just hung, then yesterday it eventually completed it in 2 hours!
She's on Windows 7 32 bit

Just in case it might help someone... at our audit firm I had multiple clients with easyfile hanging etc etc... this version of java sorted out everyones problem. Make sure you first uninstall any version you have. Then visit https://java.com/en/download/manual_java7.jsp and click the "Windows Offline (64bit) version"....

+1. Even the guy from the SARS call centre said we must use this version. Worked 100%
