SARS eFiling 2023/2024

I assume if an additional assessment is made with monies owing to them, you don't need to pay it if the combined value of the original assessment and additional assessment amounts to a refund.

Yep - i was also confused by that. Their latest assessment is just an adjustment to the prior one. eg. Assessment #1 10000 in your favour, Assessment #2 500 in their favour - your total is then 9500.

To confirm can go to the SARS portal and request a Statement of Account. That shows you actual amount owing or owed. You may need to google on the exact page to go to to get that. The dashboard might also show it:

Yeah I figured that out as my SOA is in my favour but what I am uncertain about is whether they expect payment on the additional assessment or will they just balance.

Using your example, I don't have to pay R500 first then they release R10000.

Damn! Your Official is the gold standard of Officials!
Meanwhile my side:
1. 2024/07/15 - Submitted.
2. 2024-07-15 14:05 - Audited. (Request for documents: Home Office deductions supporting documents)
3. 2024/07/19 15:22:45 - Documents Submitted
4. 2024/07/21 23:42:56 - Allocated to Official

My wishful thinking is my Official is finding some undeclared assets I didn't know about
Today, it seems my Official processed my file to ask for further home office depreciation documentation i.e. a letter from my employer indicating I was required to buy this for work purposes.

I've asked my HR, although they might tell me to f**** off in which case my power station will never facilitate their work. This TaxTim example of said letter is not asking for much

Nope.. They just paid me the balance. No need for a payment to them first.

Sunday #2 of SARS sending me a notification that my refund is on hold because they are taking their sweet ass time to do my bank verification.

28 July submitted, refund due,
28 July flagged for verification/audit , had to upload supporting documents.
28 July notification supporting documents received, waiting to be assigned

Lets see how long this takes ...

On my second round of submitting the same documents for my solar claim.

Wish SARS would be specific about what was wrong with the first set. Simply got the same letter I received the first time.

Uploaded everything again plus some arbitrary **** hoping I get to a different consultant for review.

Its been 9 days and im still waiting for my case to be allocated to an official. Let me know if you get the message so i know i need to contact them because all i get told is first come first serve :D

Wife had to hand in 2017 which is due for audit but the SOA still shows payment date as 01.08.2024. Will they still pay out on the 1st or after the 21 days for the audit?

16/07 Submitted return and supporting documents

18/07 Received notification that supporting docs have been received

29/07 finalised without changes

I never received communication that my case has been allocated to an official.

Submitted my return, realised I made a huge mistake after submitting all supporting docs, filed a correction, they came back to say all is good, no audit, completion letter received.
Note to self for next year - make another mistake.

1. Got auto assessed
2. Edited auto assessment as it did not capture donations, some out of pocket medicals and wanted to claim for solar rebate.
3. Received refund based on initial assessment.
4. Received a request for additional document based on edited assessment
5. Submitted additional documents
6. Statement of account finalised and payment date indicated
7. Second Payment made by SARS
8. Second payment by SARS reversed ie never hit my account.
9. Received request for additional documents- Salary slips, employment letter, bank statements.
10. Submitted all of those.
11. Submission received.

Silence- they are probably digging into my messy finances. I always have a messy relationship with SARS apart from last year where I accepted the auto assessment without editing as I was traveling and just couldn’t make time.

So SARS has requested additional info for my solar:

- Proof of the date of installation of the panels and the date when they were brought into use.
- Proof that the installation is for a residence mainly used for domestic purposes by the natural person who acquired the solar PV panels

I've already sent the COC dated 31 May last year, not sure what else to send for the residence but either?

What had you submitted initially?
