SARS eFiling 2023/2024

Few questions:
1. Was the invoice a VAT invoice and is the supplier VAT registered?
2. What is a confirmation of installation? Is the COC not the same thing?
3. Why do you need to submit rates and eskom account?

1. Yes, it was a VAT invoice and supplier was registered
2. I just included an email confirming the appointment for installation, CoC is asked for separately
3. Rates and taxes to confirm it's a residential building and utility account asked for specifically.

Is it possible to offset CGT because of gains, with losses declared in prior years?

I am assuming no, which is fine. But if I can lessen the blow, that would be lovely. My google-foo is failing me, and everything I can seem to find involves profits and losses for companies and not individuals.

You are in luck @mr_norris for just R49.95 a month @sars will allow you to offset prior year capital losses against current year gains.

Got auto assessment Notification at 8PM on 30 June.
Got notified of an outstanding return for 2010 on 2 Jul at 5AM.

Cant request a return older than 5 years on e-filing.
Now I have to go visit a branch, what a mess.

First appointment I could get 02 Aug
I'm in the same boat. Not sure how I'm going to find any documents from 2010.

Help me understand CGT a little bit better please.

For example:
On Satrix I sell shares and make R1000 profit.
On EE I sell shares and make R500 loss.

Can I offset the R500 loss against my R1000 profit so that my CGT for the year only R500?

Same, they want for both 2008 and 2009. My employer from back then does not have that. They suffered some data loss apparently. The only thing to do is get an affidavit and take that in instead.

Yes, some financial advisors often recommend cutting some losers from your portfolio in a year where you made big profits on share sales.

Return submitted. No verification needed. Getting about a third of my monthly take home back.

My SOA showing a balance due to me, but no date of payout yet

Refunds are generally paid within 5 working days of submitting a return despite the statement showing 1 August. So you can expect some bucks before Friday.
Returns done- payout due 1 August - Nice
My SOA showing a balance due to me, but no date of payout yet

Same will apply to you barring there is no review from SARS.

Managed to reqeust a return and hit the submit button this morning, just as the site's performance started going down the drain.

On my medical aid tax certificate it shows R47k (with the relevant code) claims not paid by the medical aid. If I add this into my filing, would I need to provide proof for these out of pocket payments?
