Getting the SARS website to run is super tedious, so I'm documenting what I've tried, because I'm sorta forgetful, and a record of what I've done will prevent me from trying something pointless more than once.

I'm looking at the SARS site, but I do get that browsers change all the time, so YMMV.

To start, I'll log in with various browsers, and see how I go.

Edge. The SARS site says use IE11 instead, but I am able to log in. However, PDFs say 'Please wait'.

IE11. I can log in, the strip on the left of the screen loads (Inbox etc), but the main window just says 'Loading'. This still happens if I have the SARS site added to compatibility view.

Firefox. I am able to log in. However, PDFs say 'Please wait'.

Chrome. Allow the SARS site to run flash, set PDF files to download. I am able to log in, but the downloaded PDF says 'Please wait'.

OK well I'm installing linux on an old laptop, and I'll try Chromium tomorrow.

I'll have a look if and when I can, at the settings and versions of applications my gf uses- she works as an accountant (still studying though) and she works with stuff on a daily basis.

IE worked for me, both Chrome and Edge didn't like the PDF component but i was able to file and do everything else - as long as i didn't need t see a PDF

The linux mint install is repeatedly crashing when it tries to write the grub loader, so I thought I'd try something crazy while I wait. Yup, I installed adobe reader. Astonishingly, it fixed the problem.

That said, I'm still going to get this running on linux, and then uninstalling adobe.

You need to have the adobe pdf plugin for the PDF to work.
