Can you tell me why SARS is the only efficient Gov office that is on par with the best in the world? AND they employ the best brains irrespective of colour. No BEE compliance needed.
I live in Cape Town and noticed that SARS had coloureds and whites working there. At the Home Affairs, I only saw blacks. Why is this?
Why do they only need SARS to be efficient?
 
ah maybe because they are the department that steal your money for the government to waste?

The first time I walked into SARS I nearly fell on my back, was totally taken by surprise.

They need to replicate this in other gov. departments.
 
Sars efficient??

They are the same petty money grubbin. A holes they have always been. I received a letter last year Feb confirming my tax refund. to date it has not been paid to me. Excuses are:

1. We cant confirm your bank details.

2. We still dont have your bank details even though u gave it to us and have a stamped copy as proof.

3. The original bank Statement you gave us does not have a Branch Code. (Yeah Right)

4. The original cancelled cheque you gave us is incomplete???????????????????????

5. We have processed it and will be paid any day now. (that was in December)

I think u guys were just lucky or were not asking for money back.
 
My dad pays far more tax than he needs to... he is an accountant, so he is really picky about it.

But that hasn't stopped them from auditing him about six or seven times in his lifetime... and every time their figures are way off... and every time they finally come back and reset it back to zero... no apologies offered. This last time they wanted my mom who is sick in bed to come to their offices to explain her income. She is 67.

Geez, what does he do? My dad works for himself and the worse that's happen to him is a fine for missing his VAT returns.
 
It's absolutely amazing how careless some SA taxpayers are about their tax affairs. They file 10 years late and then wanna b1tch when they run into problems. Pay your fair share and file on time and you will not have problems. It's not woodwork.

Kudos to both Gordham and Manuel for sorting out SARS. I hate the b******ds, they're a burden on my life but they are efficient.

No problem last year Feb when I submitted my return. I went in, was ushered to the front of the queue, gave them my details and got my refund. I personally think they have jacked up their service in the last few years and despite the fact that I don't want to deal with SARS, they are by far the best government operation in this country.

Go to Home Affairs for a day and I promise you you'll be thankful that SARS even acknowledges your presence. Not that I'm undermining your situation, we could all do with the extra cash in this current climate.
 
depends on which branch, some of them are horrible (same as other government dept.) eg. Randburg
you need to wait TWO HOURS to ask a simple question :mad:...................

Randburg is the branch I've had the easiest time dealing with? :confused:

Carlton on the other hand... :eek:

Do not go there (or any other SARS branch) when it is tax season, you're doing yourself and injustice!

Germinston only take you 10 mins to finish all you need ........ :)
Randburg will take you LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time to do a very simple thing no matter WHEN you are there. :(

No problem in Randburg, and usually I just send the accountant! It's been nothing but pleasant *if* you let them know why you're there.
 
Not a .gov , but another area where BEE/AA does not apply is the legal firms - never see a BEE/AA legal team represent the ANC scumbags when they're trying to squirm their way out of their illegal activities.
 
Yip. They should be forced to use these lawyers that battle to read and write.

If it involves money, errors are never in your favour. Imagine getting R1 000 000 deposited in your account erroneously. You have control and can phuck them around with the pathetic excuses they use. Never happens.
