SA's Drinking Water World Class

What a load of BS...soif SA is 3rd, who are the two countries better...who are the 12 on list???

I just went through the lab at Sydney Water the other day , where we have analytical equipment...the water is tested to death, and zip contaminants are found.
NZ probably doesn't even have to treat its bloody water the place is so pristine...they don't even have spiders and snakes in that place.

...besides the fact that where are you more likely to see litter and people ****ting near rivers etc ...seriously April 1st was on Monday.

He does have a point though in that 3rd world wide seems somewhat far fetched given the situation on the ground. e.g. Rhodes uni issues pamphlets that contain stuff like:

Makana Municipality drinking water quality varies
considerably, and has sometimes dropped below required
SANS 241 limits (SA National Standards: guidelines for safe
drinking water - limits for chemicals, micro-organisms, etc).
Grahamstown’s 2010 Blue Drop score was just 36%, and
Makana’s average a shocking 28%. This is mainly due to
poor management and unskilled staff.

I'm told the majority of students use either a local spring or buy from the shop in town that specializes on RO water. Too many EColi scares & dodgy smelling water.

I find it difficult to believe that exactly 2 countries can do better than that. New Zealand, Sweden, Norway, Canada, US, Germany etc surely don't have to deal with such BS.
 
Have one of those reverse osmosis systems at home for drinking/cooking water etc...

Used to replace the filters once a year. For the past three years changed the schedule and have them replaced every three months. When they take them out they [the filters] are pitch black. Looks more like tar went through them than 'world class drinking water'.

Deidre Nxumalo-Freeman is more than welcome to come and look what my filters look like after filtering that world class water. And to think most people just drink it as is.......
 
Nevermind the naysayers, I will continue to drink tap water as I have done my entire life. The human body needs a small dose of nasty stuff to keep all the soldier active. I find that people who are always sick are the ones who try their best to keep themselves germ free - not good.

Agreed, someone else showed me the same thing, I am scared to think whats actually in our water.
 
The majority of farmers I know, mostly from Northern Cape would bring shiploads of their own water down to Cape Town when on holiday. This always surprises me, not many people like their natural water, but I do enjoy the taste. Then again I have seen and tasted horrible water from boreholes.

That's the active carbon in the filter.

Perhaps can some patriotic South African come and drink the water from my tab in PE. Only today they announced on the local radio that water samples have been send to a private test center to find out what is going on with the appalling quality. Perhaps someone can check for some link on AlgoaFM. (I am posting from my cell phone) And who are the other 2 nations better then SA? Ok, Zimbabwe must be one but which is the other? WTF

The difference between Cape Town water and bottled water is obvious once you taste it.

But sometimes the water does smell of sewage and there have been problems in Milnerton with backflow of sewage into potable water supplies in the recent past.

But why should it not be? SA has lots of land, a few good rivers and low population density and little industry (so little pollution). Coupled that with elements of our infrastructure which are 1st world, we can expect pretty good, although not too plentiful, water supply.
 
whats all the fuss about water? I grew up drinking borehole water. Some sections of my village where drinking from rivers. Everyone who is this paranoid should learn to chill and drink tab water.

I'm very interested to know the results. I drink all my water from my filter tap.
