I wasn't sure how to title this post, but let's describe the problem rather than the cause.
A few months back I bought a ViPOWER SuperRACK internal drive bay and removable rack for offsite backups. Stated simply, it is a POS
. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
The first time I used it I struggled a bit to get it up and running but eventually everything ran smoothly. The next attempt at a backup didn't work at all. The machine won't boot with the drive installed, hanging at either POST code 52 - Hot Plug PCI controller initialization or 5A - Resetting PATA/SATA bus and all devices. Installing the drive "hot" just doesn't work. Since this episode my machine (Intel DP55WG and i5-750) takes way too long to boot, hanging around on POST code 5A for a few minutes before eventually deciding to boot.

- Have I toasted something (or has something become toasted)
- Is there a fix (I have tried a back to BIOS boot and this doesn't seem to help)
