I am having problem with SATA hard drives. My PC does not recognize a new unformatted 120GB and the 500GB formatted hard drive is recognized but often get's lost since I installed Ubuntu 9.10 on it.

What's up with SATA?

Running windoze ?Did you check in disk manager? New drives need to be assigned or allocated or whatever windoze call it. U can do this in disk manager.

No real solution I can think of either there.
Check settings in your BIOS.

Right click on "My computer" select manage. Select disk management under Computer management. Your 120GB drive will be there.Click on it to initialise and format

Yeah, sounds like drives need initializing. Don't think windows will be happy with a non FAT or NTFS file system either.

The 120GB do not show on disk management. I have noticed though that the BIOS shows 136GB hard drive under "none". The other devices do show their names or numbers.
