Can anyone recommend a reliable fast DVD RW that supports the SATA interface. Read weird stories, the MSI XA52P states on the box only for Intel chipset, doesn't work with 655Tx nor on the Southbridge VT8237 from VIA. Lite-on seems great for hacks, LG seems a solid performer, ASUS? Some have Nero others Roxio. Ideally not just Nero Express but the whole package. Is there such an animal?
TIA

I recently got my hands on an "Asus DRW-1814BLT". This is superb drive – quiet, reliable, fast and versatile.

You can check out some reviews at CDFreaks and CDRLabs.

Take2 is selling it for about R400.

SATA Controller

Why is it that there are conflicts between some SATA Optical Drives and the SATA RAID set ups? Is it due to the Southbridge only, is so, why? I thought it was the link from the CPU to the USB, SATA, IDE etc...
