I have a friend who owns a lodge outside of Maun in the Delta.
He needs an affordable satellite internet connection for his business and for creating a wifi hotspot for
use by the guests.
I have googled etc and got lots of junk and saw very expensive offers.
Any ideas and has anybody had any experience of this kind of installation.

Yes I have. The companies from Europe is impossibly priced. For satellite connection I had to revert to either a South African or Botswana based provider. The prices for monthly subscription were reasonable, but the installation and traveling cost high. I opted for a company in South Africa, but even though I have a uncapped subscription for 512 down and 125 up, they choke me. Sometimes the speed drops to 100kbps at a rate of 1min 15 sec. Then I would contact them, and suddenly the speed would increase, but given a day or two and I'm back to slow. If you need more info let me know.

I did discuss with them the option, but they declined to operate so close to the border.

If it's worth doing, it's worth doing it well!

Some of these companies operating in Africa offer great prices, but then supply you with inferior hardware.

We rolled out a network in Angola with these guys: http://www.satadsl.net/our-network/ . Based in Belgium, uses the astra sat network. Equipment is reasonably priced, and monthlies too.

They used to have freezone at night (for a fee), which allows you to download at night without using your cap
