Satellite Phones

Hey all,

I'm going to do extensive travelling into rural Africa this year, and was wondering about the cost effectiveness of sat phones as opposed to international roaming. Obviously there's a major benefit in terms of coverage, but what's the cost of calls?

Also, how does it work in terms of service providers etc? Who should I be looking at?

we did botswana trip in africa and a little bit more up etc,etc we used the Thuraya SAT phone works well except for battery power runs about 15mins then flat. anyway regarding costs, u can get prepaid int bundles at cheap prices etc

the thing that eats ur money a bit more is if u decide to hire it not sure on those prices but it's pretty expensive but definitly worth it if something serious happens.

ill get more info on prices later for u. have it somewhere tuked away
