Hi all

I have been considering singing up with Satrix. The problem that I have is which fund to choose.

Based on what I've seen, the INDI is the best performer.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks

The choices are there to match your risk profile. Without all the information regarding your personal circumstances any advice would be inappropriate. So yes the INDI has the best overall return but it also has the highest risk.

Looking at a 5-year graph. Indi was on par performance wise with satrix divi (for example) until around May 2012 and then shot up up and away.

Now you have to ask yourself if you expect the big companies in there to keep performing well over the next few years. The 3 big ones are Compagnie Fin Richemont, MTN and Naspers and they make up 44% of the Indi index (this is where the risk mentioned by Almightybender comes in).

MTN is well diversified across many markets but facing mobile termination rate cuts in many and low growth as market saturate. Naspers performance is all about 10cents in China. Compagnie Fin Richemont makes luxury goods (Cartier, Montblanc, to name but a few), the rich seems to have money to spend and again they are really benefiting from growth in China.

Difficult choice you face. I'm in Satrix Divi and Rafi...

Thanks all

When can I get a user-friendly breakdown of each of the Satrix funds, showing daily, weekly, monthly etc performance?

Thanks

The big four (Richemont, Naspers, SABMiller and MTN) represents 50% of the Indi 25 index and it would be foolish to expect the same type of price returns in the next five years. If these companies grow at a more muted pace, it will place a damper on the index as a whole, he says.

Here is something that agrees with my opinion. But this is what I thought 12 months ago and Indi has just kept growing lol. At least I didn't go into Resi either. But really one year is nothing since my timeframe is 20 years and the good thing about Rafi and Divi is they are flexible, their constituents can more easily change and are not sector bound.

I put money into Top40, DIVI and INDI every month. INDI has shown the best returns so far, but this is more of a long term investment for me.
