I need advice on Satrix Indi and Divi.
STXIND has been doing about 30% pa over the past 5 years and the STXDIV at 20% pa. The STXIND seems to include the divies if I read the website correctly and the STXDIV does not as it pays out the cash amount. There is a link to download the divies but I don't have a programme to open it.
What I actually need is the divies paid out pa.
Thanks.

Why would you want to invest in a ETF that only returns a measly 20-30% if your potfolio regularly does 70-80%?

Anyways, on a serious note, I am also looking into these two and would like to know the difference in laymans terms, and the pros and cons. I am prepared to take a bit of risk.

+1 can we not have some one form Satrix to explain the jargon to us ?????

You read incorrectly, both Satrix Indi and Divi can pay out quarterly dividends if you dont select the "re-invest dividends" box. Satrix Rafi is a total return fund and does not pay out dividends.

@Marco

Do you ask the same advice on all the other “Share” and “Investment” Forums you belong too?

Yes, but I have not invested in STX in years and have not followed it lately. The reason why I am asking this question is this:
If something happens to me then my wife will not know what to do as I have been doing all the investing. Her only income will be from the investment I have in my 3 stocks and she will need to change to investments that she does not need to follow.
My reasoning is STXIND as it is well diversified in industrial stocks and has done well over many years but the STXDIV pays out good divies that might be more tax effective. Perhaps a combination of the 2?

STXDIV and STXRAF are what some would call "smart etf's", as their share selection is based on more that just 1 factor.
Your "traditional" etf's are mostly just market cap.
I think either are good choices.

How will you purchase the shares? Through a broker or through an investment poan?

@Marco, I just read your post again, and you want your wife to have something simple to manage, I think the satrix investment plan or even etfsa will suit her needs if something happens to you.

You do share your business income as you told us previously?

OR,

Is this your business, trading and investing?

I do not want to go into depth, but you have holes in your stories.

Yes we do share business profits but it has nothing to do with this thread. I am merely making plans for my wife's future should something happen to me. What holes do you see?

perhaps, familiarize her with what she needs to do should something happen to you.

Ok. I have downloaded the STXIND divies and did a 2 year back test. Now I am not saying that the back test will mirror the future. This is just for interest sake.

Had she bought R1.5M STXIND and withdrawn R12 000 pm the 1'st 12 months and R14 000 the next 12. Taking into account that the divies are accumulated in her cash account and withdrawn when they add up to her monthly withdrawal amount instead of withdrawing from the capital. I did deduct 15% from each divi as I was not sure if it was already done as shown.

After the 24 month period the capital would still have grown to R1.966M.

Looking at the STXDIV, I don't think it can beat the Indi due to it's volatility and liquidity.

She knows how to work out how many shares to sell to make up the cash she needs but she cannot watch the stocks as I do hence my inquiry into satrix. So far the INDI seems good.
Do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks.
