Sattelite Internet

home sat (ex Infosat) is sat connection down only. Up is via other means (dialup, MyWi, etc) Not sure about ST's VSTAR or Telkom's VSAT. We have clients on VSAT but I think part of that connection sits on ISDN. Might be talking thru my @rse though

Thanks Luke ... so it is downlink only ... this American rural broadband system is uplink as well.

Hi

What is the home sat website if it has one ?

Are there any other Sattelite ISP's out there ....even if they are only one way .... it does mean an uncapped solution and a 24/7 solution if you add that to a adsl line ...might incure a bit of a cost thou ....

an idea maybe?

Sentech and Telkom VSAT are bidirectional, no need for a land connection.
True, but our situation was a bit different. We have a diginet line between the server (not at the client) and SAIX backbone. Client uses Spacestream for connectivity to and from SAIX.

Yup - VSAT is completely up and down. Seems to have big caps / limits tho. The Telkom one is more entry level, with the Sentech offering being more pricey. But I think with the pricing its better to go wireless / ADSL if you have coverage
