I haven't been using Firefox for too long so have some sympathy please.

How can I save videos from the Firefox cache? Or how can I download them? Like for example from Metacafe (you know, flv). Just one little vital peace of info: I'm capped, so any links to add-ons or downloads have to be local.

Thanx:)

Look for an add-on named Video DownloadHelper, otherwise I'll download it and send it to you.

My firefox cache is : C:\Documents and Settings\DaveMc\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\owlv7exk.default

Sort the files by date-created and rename the file to .flv (YouTube).
Your path will not contain the \DaveMc\ ... and the owlv7exk.default will be different.

I have a shortcut on my desktop to the cache folder and I grab movies from there after I've watched them. It's better then re-downloading them using an addon.

 I thought the cache was encrypted or something, I always did this with IE 7. I hope it works, Thanx:D

I've been using Webstream Recorder Pro... from Sytexis.
http://www.sytexis.com/

It cost me $30.. I see it is now $40.

But the benefit is... it records any and every video (automatically to the default folder, no push button or click to save) in any browser. Once it is configured it is automatic. If you want to watch lots of stuff again later, just go to that folder and everything is all there for you.

Thank you:) It seems like a good "investment" if you consider the amount of videos I watch.

It definitely is. I have had it for nearly a year now and the amount of bandwidth I have saved (by not having to reload videos), and the amount of watchable material is amazing. If I just check my video folder on this computer alone I have over 2 GB of videos.

BTW, it saves them in FLV format (the dominant video format on the internet). You can use the VideoLan Client to watch them or convert them to something else.

what kind of internet do you have? 3G or ADSL?
