The last few years SARS has been getting stricter and stricter on car alowances. Surely that is having a negative effect on the motor industry. The way it is going now you must keep a very good record of your actual business km's. For me I am actually not bothered to buy a new car anymore. I rather take the tax penalty and keep on driving my trusted now 5 year old car. With tender love and care she will keep me still many years. Maybe to save the motor industry SARS should relax car alowances a bit, I am sure this will stimulate growth. Instead of considering all kind of aid packages which will come anyway out of the tax payers pocket

Bloody hell why not "save the consumers", lower tax on travel allowance and car prices. We're getting screwed from both sides and you want to press your lips against sars's arse so you can get rammed from behind by naamsa. Damn them both when I leave for greener pastures. SARS will lose their tax base and SA motor industry can drop dead, I say fukem both.

Car allowances are heavily abused so they need a better system. Maybe a percentage of salary based tax writeoff for a new vehicle purchase over 3 years?

Whats happening now is better for the average man.
