Hi All

I have a number of folders on my SBS 2008 server that are shared amongst the company. Now the problem has come up that people cannot access their folders when I have given them full rights and ja, I have now resorted to giving ownership to everyone, because I cannot add individual users on the folders as I get access denied every single time. :(:(

The Subfolders and files are also not importing the new users added to the security settings either.

What would you guys suggest the easiest way to put these permissions back in order so that people can stop complaining??

Thanks

Try SolarWinds Permissions Analyzer for Active Directory

You can select a share/folder and have it check where a specific account's permissions are coming from, whether it be inherited or specifically stated somewhere

Just take ownership of the folders then you can assign right as you please. Also check that you given everyone full control on the share level permissions not just the NTFS permissions.

Its recommended to give user Modify rights on the Security level, this way they cannot change the security themselves. I normally give Full access on the Permission level.

+1 for the solar winds tool.

Remember to tick "replace permission entries on all child objects with entries here that apply to child objects" under advanced security settings of your share folder

Edit

Also check your licensing make sure you have enough CAL`s
