SC2 stuttering - Is it just me?

Hoho :D

So, im really enjoying SC2 and playing the crazy out of it :p

However, every now and then I get some stuttering in multiplayer...the game seems to freeay for a second, catches up again, then continues normally.

Is anyone else getting this? Trying to figure out if there's something I can do on my end or if it's just the servers getting slammed.

Shot for any replies :)
 
Does any of the proxies support SC 2? lowerping did support it but now for some reason the updated lowerping client does not
 
No it's not just you. Last night I played a game against someone locally and it was stuttering like hell. Every 2 seconds. I got so gatvol I just quit. It was totally unplayable. But then in my next game it was fine .. Dunno what it is.
 
Some background process is messing up your flow.

Disable all auto-updates, virus scans, defrags etc.

Unlikely to be a network issue imo.
 
I have it as well, really annoying, but after a while I got used to it. Although I haven't tried disabling my anti-virus to see if that might solve anything. After 00:30am it magically seems to disappear, however, I'll keep testing.

It might be a software related issue? As in, the game itself?

Its possible that it might be game related as well. I'm following the official tech support thread on the EU Blizzard forums as well, and there are quite a number of people that get this stuttering. It must be somehow software related. I thought that it could be hamachi, but even before I had hamachi installed, I still got the same stuttering. The only other thing it might be, is my anti-virus, although I highly doubt that. I've also forwarded the relevant ports, but still the same.

BTW, those of you with this error, what connections are you running?

I'm on 384k :(

I'm on 4mb and the guy I played locally is also on 4mb. He's actually on this forum, Chris_H, so you can ask him about that game.. It was the worst stutter ever.

I even closed Steam. I don't have any AV running either, so it must be related to the game or battle.net. Anyway, keep us posted. Luckily it doesn't happen that often, but it still is bit of an issue.

seeing as I have no life, i spent an hour trying stuff :D

It seems the key here is TCP port 1119.

Now, I can't seem to log in to battle.net when i have it forwarded, so i start off with no ports forwarded, log in, alt-tab, forward TCP port 1119, and the lag goes byebye.

More testing is needed before this is a confirmed fix...lemme know if it works for you :)

384 line, netgear router.

My router is bridged. All ports are open. No firewalls.

I highly doubt it. They can hack (hack as in hack AT IT with a blunt spoon because they are not getting anywhere :D) all they want though, don't really care. There's nothing for them to find. Plus I format my PC every 3 months. I actually don't know what they will do if all my remote services are blocked on my PC anyway.

By the way, it's impossible to get into a normal modem if remote services are disabled on it. I have closed of all remote holes on my PC.

I also have all the relevant ports forwarded. I have to say its much better, but Blizzard did some maintenance about 2 days ago and with international players for 2-3 games in a row, I didn't get any stutter. Playing with my clan members locally, the stuttering still occurs, however, its much better than it was. For the first time last night as well, my voice chat also worked, although it sounds as if the other player is in a box and you really need to listen carefully to make out anything, but TS3 still works wonders. :)
