For those interested in algorithmic trading / robots or EAs

I found an interesting one...
Made for the forex market, takes 7 pips profit and 500 pip stop loss
97% win ratio.

Whats the long term result?
It made $5000 (starting with $10,000) in 2 months,
and in 1 trade after that went from $15,000 to $6!

Gotta be careful on those scalper systems!

Do these robots actually work? I have seen the ones that at least make consistent profit irregardless of the percentage. Please share if you know any.

No they dont. It's simple statistics

A sl:tp ratio of 71 is pure lunacy. Dont forget to add spread, so it is closer to a sl:tp ratio of 100. That means it takes 100 wins to cover a single loss. That means you need a 99% win ratio to break even...

Nobody will ever sell a working robot. I worked for months with a few other guys on one, and it was just as much work as trading manually for about the same returns.

Just trade big news events - much lower risk and far less stress.

It depends what you are referring to, Robots / EA's (in general) can work it depends on the system.

As agentfr points out if there is a flaw in the system (like in this example) then
over time you will lose money.

This was just a free one that I got off the internet, and found the results quite interesting.

If I could choose between lying on the beach and an algo trading for me
or trading manually for the same return, I think most would then choose the algo

I would love to save up 50K and throw it at one of these. I have friends who are real traders and some of them are quite fond of using these mini AI bots to trade for them. So far it's been quite successful ( So they say )

It's not automatic, you need to be there to tune, backtest and debug. It's 8-10 hours a day, just as much time/effort/stress as manual trading :)

true, testing systems is a lot of work!
Running part of it is easy.
