I just got a call from a debt collector company (I think it was VMM or thereabouts who knows) the lady has my name correctly... she then says she is calling about my Vodacom cellphone contract, I tell her I don't have a contract, never had one ever (I'm on pre-paid) she then asks me for my ID number, I say nope I'm not giving you that! She goes on asking me why I won't giver her my ID number etc, I tell her shes a scammer, I then ask her what ID number she is looking for, she says she is not allowed to tell me! She then asks for my date of birth, I ask her what date she is looking for, she won't tell me. I say get ****ed and put the phone down, lol.

Is there anyway to check if someone hasn't used your ID number or something and has cellphone contracts out in your name etc?

I guess you could pull your credit report from one of the credit bureaus and see what accounts have been on your ID.

great that didn't work, it says someone tried to log into your account and failed multiple times so it's locked, I must phone them during office hours... clearly I've used that site years ago.

do you know any other legit sites?
 
You can also use the PBVerify website.... we use them for all our company credit reports... they aggregate a lot of credit reporting companies.
Company has now been taken over by Datanamix....

I bought a bunch of credits from them.... and use them over the years to credit checks on people and companies... and even on myself and my company.
You can even do cellphone and licence plate lookups.

And also there is the Clearscore app that you see heavily advertised on DSTV....
But just be aware if you sign up through clearscore and tick the "send me the credit report" option you are also signing up to be marketed to through their lending agencies (but I must say in my experience, this was very minimal).
I actually really enjoy the clearscore app.

I had my ID flagged years ago couldn't even open a basic account needed to get a letter to have flag removed
