For whoever Google's this place. Another random scam site that popped up. You know when these places stock items you can't find anywhere else it's trouble.

Edit:Seems they're dropshippers.

You sure? Their website is more than a decade old.
No, I'm not 100% sure. But I've been looking for some electronic items and their site consistently comes out on top for things none of the bigger places even stock.

The hellopeter is just people who've been scammed.

Happy to edit my post and sweetly apologise if they're legit.

I honestly haven't a clue - their domain was registered in 2011, and Wayback Machine / Internet Archive shows a similar type of store going all the way back (including having a PO Box as the address, albeit in Boksburg, back then already).

So what did you buy from them and did they not deliver ?

Very odd thread dedicated to something you are not sure about or have used.

What's going on @saor ?
Nothing, just tired of an endless line of scammers trying to screw everyone over with fake sites that don't deliver. If it quacks like a duck I'm just going to call it that and ask questions later.

But mybroadband.co.za 😂

I keep a Gemini chat with the sole goal of investigating online shop legitimacy. We're busy building, and I've been stumbling over places like https://www.gundoevolution.co.za/ (plumbing stuff), https://shop.magnet.co.za (electronic switchgear), keyelectric.co.za/ (electronic switchgear, cables etc). Thus far Gemini have been quite useful.

Business Legitimacy: Electronic Pro operates as a classic online drop-shipping business. They claim to have been operating since 2009, specializing in "hard to find products" imported from overseas. They do not advertise a physical retail storefront, but they do provide a valid Cape Town landline (021 785 2285).

Domain & Reputation: For a business claiming to be over a decade old, they have a surprisingly small digital footprint. There are no major discussions about them on local tech forums like MyBroadband or Carbonite, and they lack a presence on Hellopeter. They hold a moderate 3.7 rating on Trustpilot, but the volume of feedback is low.

Red Flags: * The Drop-Shipping Model: Their shipping policy explicitly states that international items take 14–18 business days. This means they do not hold the stock locally; they order it from overseas (likely China) only after you pay them.

  • Grammar and Professionalism: The site copy contains obvious grammatical and spelling errors (e.g., "we are a company specializes in", "shipped via Paxi coureir"), which is common with low-effort drop-shipping storefronts.
  • Delivery Methods: Their site mentions delivering to your "local post office" for certain international items. Relying on SAPO for incoming international parcels carries a high risk of delays or lost goods.

Conclusion: It does not appear to be an outright scam, but it is a middleman storefront. You are likely paying a premium markup for items they are ordering from platforms like AliExpress or Banggood on your behalf. You are almost always better off finding the specific electronic components you need from local, stock-holding suppliers (like Communica, Micro Robotics, or PiShop) or ordering directly from the international suppliers yourself to save money and get better buyer protection.

They operate from a house in Sun Valley, near Fish Hoek. A friend did a satellite dish job for them. He said there is a double-garage crammed with stuff
