I've got two CF Cards in my Amazon shopping cart a SanDisk Extreme 32 GB 60 MB/s Compact Flash Memory Card and a Lexar Professional Series 32 GB 300x UDMA CompactFlash. On the surface the choice is obvious, the Scandisk is a faster card (60MB/s vs 45MB/s) but there's something else in my cart that might make a difference, a Lexar CompactFlash FireWire 800 Card Reader.

Would it made a significant difference if the card has been optimised for the reader or should I stick with my gut and go for the Sandisk?

(There's also a Eye-Fi Pro X2 8 GB card in there too:D)

Compelling arguments, thanks. :)

Do you want better speed when you're taking pictures or when you're uploading them to our computer?

Both ideally but if I had to choose it would be better offloading speed.

Gosh, I wasn't thinking. The Sandisk will be faster either way. No fancy tricker will make a 45mb/s card read faster than a 60mb/s one.

And then there is the ridiculously expensive lexar 600x cf card...

Ordered the sandisk in the end and realised that the first time I fill it I'll run out of available space on my laptop! :o

Cant wait to get my hands on the Eye-fi card.

I've only got a 500gb drive atm. Since aperture 3 came out though I've been working in projects rather than libraries which makes external drives more attractive.

I bought the last 2 x whitebox 500gb 2,5" external drives from Sahara on Thursday. R615 each. One for was for me...

And the other for . . . :)

I've just now glued the internals from a SATA enclosure onto the office table to use for the stack of drives I have lying around :)

Ouch! How much do you have right now? Seagate now has 750GB 7200rpm drives! Their spinning/ssd hybrid drives also look really interesting.
Several hard drives later and I've managed to move 250gb worth of libraries off of my laptop so I've got much more room to play around with. I think my next acquisition is going to have to be a drobo.

160 Days - that's how long it took for my package to get through customs. Since I'd figured it was lost I'd re-ordered everything so now I've got spares. :o :D
