Some advice needed please guys.

I am in the process of transferring old family photographs and birth certificates etc into electronic copies. For obvious reasons not everyone is willing simply hand over their stuff so that I can have them scanned with a fancy machine at work.

So I'm thinking of buying a portable scanner that I can carry around with me and scan the documents on site as it where.

Obviously budget is an issue as I would have very little use for the scanner other than this. However I do want something that will do a fairly high quality job.

Any recommendations from the pro's out there?

Thanks in advance :)

I had the same issue with my mom's 70th birthday. My brother had brought my mom a digital photo frame from overseas & it was my job to collect & scan the family's photos. I ended up buying an A4 CanoScan LiDE200 for about R900 if I remember correctly. Not exactly cheap but I figured I'll use it again somewhere along the line. It gets power over USB so 'fairly' portable & has cool features like automatically cropping into individual photos if you scan more than one photo per page. Got the kids to do the actual scanning so easy to use too.
