WTF! Anyone seen this sheit?
Surprised it's not on MYBB.

Got 10 year ban - 7 suspended, so effectively 3 year ban from all rugby.

Apparently the punishment was less severe because of extenuating circumstances, namely the fact that it was the boy's first offence, and secondly that his mother was terminally- ill.
Does the extenuating circumstances really matter?

Is that enough punishment? I don't think so. Should have been the full 10.

I think that 3-years with 7-suspended is a good call.

At 17 you are hot headed, and with a mother that is terminally ill it really be a bit more for a hormone fueled brain to handle.

Banning him for 10 years effectively ends his rugby dreams.

I am not saying what he did was right, becuase it was not. I also think that they should have charged him for assault.

Where's the charge of assault? If the ref is peeved with the decision, then he is welcome to lay one...

7 years? That's retarded. Give the boy a night in jail and him and the ref can have a cold beer together the next day.

this story is old... the kid should be locked up.

What the hell does this have to do with the Blue Bulls Rugby Union besides the ref being linked to the union? Surely it is the school that should be having a disciplinary hearing? The guy doesn't play for the Blue Bulls. What does he care if he gets banned from playing for the Blue Bulls? That doesn't stop him from playing for any other rugby union.

You would swear some of the people on this forum were never teenagers and think we should all be locked up for making eye contact...

Let the ref decide what to do. this is SCHOOL LEVEL RUGBY.

Get serious about suspensions when they get to uni... that's when real money becomes involved.

even though he is going through that it still does not justifies for assaulting the ref. a night in jail would do nothing, banning him for 10years that will teach him a lesson and also set an example for others

All schools, clubs etc etc fall in a district which is governed by a Union... in this case the Bulls.

.... He made a mistake. If he does it again he will miss out on his dream. If he does not behave like a fscktard again he can still play rugby if he likes...

I also do not deny that he should be punished but to me the punishment is fair.

Punishment seems fair. I mean you don't just headbutt a ref. He's a minor and the ref an adult. I bet he's also a bully in his school. But rest assured that the kid learned his lesson. If he ever headbutts anyone ever again then we can safely assume he's a retard.

Quite interesting to see this make the news, my brother is doing that ref stuff.

Was telling me about this soon after it happened. Disappointing that it's such a pathetic punishment.

From what I've been told I think he has.
