Schumi: 'I've decided to retire'

Yea it looks like his eyes are gone, some silly crashes this year that show his age.

Still i would have taken another year or two and pushed it until i was not psychically capable :D. Mods must move this to the f1 thread though, seems a waste of space.
 
Not really surprised. Such a pity he never managed to win a few more races.

Still the greatest driver of his generation and one of the greatest of all time.
 
Some people may disagree with me but I still maintain that he should never have come back. Not to join Mercedes anyway. I think if he was in a Red-Bull or McLaren, then the past three years might have been different for him. I really wanted to see him mixing it up with Vettel, Alonso and Hamilton, fighting with them for wins and not being lucky to just finish in the points.
 
He was at best a average driver with a superior car. The Ferrari at that time was the best car in F1.

This 2nd coming proved it was always the car & not the driver. Shumi was NEVER a flook of tech rather than talet.

I still believe at his so called peak Damon Hill, Mikka Hakkinen were better drivers just had bad luck cars.

Next on the list of Never was will be Current champ S.Vettel, Hamilton has shown him up this season hopefully the Merc will be consistent next season.

I had no idea the championship was decided on one race. All this time I thought you had to perform over the entire season. And your excuse for him winning in the Benetton in 1995?

Using your argument Rubens Barrichello should have been on par with Michael Schumacher in terms of wins/finishes (same team, same car)...but he wasn't was he?

LOL! What a load of tosh.

From 1980 to 1999 Williams & McLaren won 16 of 20 driver's championships. They were the best cars of the period. Between 1984 and 1993 they won every single driver's title. In this period drivers such as Nelson Piquet, Alain Prost, Nicki Lauda, Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell and Mika Hakkinen won championships.

By your logic, those drivers are all overrated because they won titles in the the best cars of that period.

He shouldn't have retired when he did. He proved he was still able to mix it in 2006. Had he stayed he could have had a shot at the next two titles (one won by Raikkonen, the other just missed by Massa). I'd have retired after 100 wins.
