Scientists Talking With Apes, Groundbreaking Research

Groundbreaking? I'm sure I saw something just like that in the '70s and the '80s and the '90s.

When Apes start telling us how they feel, what sort of day they are having, and how much they fancy that sexy little ape in the next cage, then I'll start to believe that scientists are talking to apes.

All I see from this article/video is an Ape responding to letters and words by pressing buttons. Stimulus - Response - Reward.

A little more advanced than my dog can do, but not much.

Clearly we have a group of scientists looking for more funding for their "research".

The only thing this tech can teach us is that apes can be trained, and that humans have the ability to believe almost anything they are told.

Well, humans aren't any different really.

Here, I'll prove it :

Idiot!

I remember something similar. The taught the one chimpanzee sign language and she in turn taught it to the rest of her mates.

I have some personal experience with various monkeys (not apes) and have reviewed some literature on behavioral studies on both apes and monkeys -one thing I can assure you is that we underestimate the level of intelligence that primates exhibit and their ability to communicate. Their communication processes are not single dimensional like humans, but incorporate sound, smell and sight/body language. They also have very complex social structures.
