(PhysOrg.com) -- Whoever thought that science was a dry subject might change their mind after learning about a new discovery in which tequila is turned into diamonds. A team of Mexican scientists found that the heated vapor from 80-proof (40% alcohol) tequila blanco, when deposited on a silicon or stainless steel substrate, can form diamond films.

What a disturbing waste of alcohol.

I suppose it depends on the value of the diamonds a bottle makes. Like it could be the booze version of cold fusion. Buy tequila, make diamonds, sell them buy even more tequila, turn some of into diamonds drink the rest. etc :D

:D:D First the shortage of oil started a rush into ethanol biofuels which pushed up the prices of food worldwide. Now we have the prospect of our nightly Tequila slammers being too expensive as the steel industry corners even more of the ethanol market.
