Scirocco - what extra expenses are included?

Hey,

So, one of the cars im looking at buying is a Scirocco. The list price is R285k which is inclusive of Co2 tax.

I dont need any extras so im not adding anything. Maybe Xenon lights and metallic paint

My question is, what other expenses and taxes are involved? How much is the R285k price likely to increase because of fine print and taxes?

PS: Im probably going to get a good discount but ignoring that for now.
 
Then thats about it, there is like a registration and licensing fee...but its around 1500,
shop around, u will find that some dealers are willing to bargain or at least throw in extras at no charge..
 
That sunroof is sexy but its R10k. Fogs I have hardly ever used in my car but Xenons are something I would love.

Don't bother with the roof - the Scirocco's can't slide open; tilt-only. For the comparatively little it costs I would definitely add the fogs, and xenons are a must far as I'm concerned, for the sake of safety if nothing else.
 
have u gotten any quotes yet? how much discount they offering?

wat colour u getting?
 
Is this brand new? I know the base price for Scirrocos brand new is nothing less than R320K.

i know i am going to get shot here, but i wouldnt be able to justify the extra 43k from this to the mk6 comfortline tsi.
Have you made up your mind on this car? there is a fair whack you can get in this price range?

Have to say though, the Scirroco is a damn nice looking car
 
Agreed in terms of pure performance the 2.0 is the one to have, but that little 1.4 engine is a gem. Even compared to the 2.0 it's not exactly sluggish - only 1.1s difference in the 0 - 100 dash - and it'll be a fair bit more economical.

All the show with 85% of the go, for 15% less. Hey, a grand a month more petrol money...

I think it's more in line with the MK VI Highline. The engine and trim levels are both the same, and the price is almost the same, so I wouldn't say that it's a bad buy considering that it's styled better than the Golf.

but you should prob compare the highline then?? not sure on the diff's

Definitely compare to the Highline, yes. The Comfortline is a 90kW turbo-only 1.4TSI; the Scirocco and Highline share much the same standard spec and the 118kW super- and turbocharged mill.

Suddenly R10k for the sexiness of the Scirocco doesn't look that bad...

ah my bad, thought it was the comfortline motor inside, didnt do my research on it :o
 
Well, I havent made my mind up yet.

I could save a little money by getting the C30 or Civic but that Scirocco is so perty.

With regards to the 1.4TSI, its a monster little engine that is both supercharged and turbocharged.
0-100 - 8s
Top speed - 218km
KW - 118
Torque - 240.

Whats not to like. Thats all the performance I need.

As for a little oopsy on VW's part. the Golf 6 1.4TSI Highline has the same engine as the 1.4 Scirocco and costs R10,000 less. The thing is that the golf excludes leather seats, climate control and a multi-function steering wheel. All those extras are worth over R15,000 whereas on the Scirocco they are standard.

I guess it makes sense to get a Scirocco instead of the Highline :)

Not sure what kind of discount I will get. My brother and 3 friends just bought 4 GTI's as a group so Im hoping he can have a little sway over them.

I have really made up my mind just yet but as mentioned, Im leaning towards the Scirocco as the expensive option and the C30 and Civic as the cheaper options. I can get the C30 2.0 with the Essential package for R240,000 or the Honda Civic VXI for R250,000. As for the Scirocco, hopefully the discount will be good as that is the clincher for me.

Any other ideas?

I had a thread where I was looking at the Kia Cerato Koup but not keen on it anymore despite the amazing value.

The c30 is only really an option in T5, otherwise i think you will loathe it.
 
Good luck on the discount front. The Sciroccos are in seriously short supply - most bigger dealers would see 3 to 4 of them, spread between all three model variants, per quarter.
