In his current role, Scott Smith manages the overall MTN Group of Nokia Siemens Networks in this market.
Prior to this position he was Account Director for MTN group at Nokia Networks, Iran. In this role he was responsible for building an account team in Iran and ensured the smooth and speedy start-up of the project, at the same time building customer confidence and managing local issues.
Before this he was Account Director for MTN group at Nokia Networks, South Africa where he won the first Nokia contract with MTN South Africa for “Push To Talk”, including a care agreement. He also successfully defined and led the Nokia strategy globally within the MTN group account, as well as managed a direct and virtual team across Africa and Middle East.
Smith was previously with Alcatel where he held several senior positions and managed major clients, key business units and strategically important divisions for the South African market of Alcatel.
He received his M.B.A degree from the Gordon Institute of Business Science, University of Pretoria, and completed his bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in radio and propagation, from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
