so thanks to some stellar citizens in this fine country, I have 4 fine but noticeable scratches on my car doors - I seem collect these on payday weekends when I have to park in busy parking lots.

I have tried polish (diamond guard and meguiars) and they hide the scratches until the car gets washed.

has anyone tried the 'fix it pro' pen by homemark that they at makro or game? they sell 'em for R99

maybe I should look into glazing, or what else would you recommend. or use?

What about that Colour Magic polish?
I've never tried it, maybe others have experience.

Meguairs ScratchX by hand if your vehicle has soft paint/clear coat should do the trick... if your car has very tough paint/clear then Farecla G3 by hand (light/medium pressure) with a decent polish to refine after G3 and finally wax to protect.

I'm working for Holts car care products. There is no product that will repair/remove a scratch as a scratch is damaged paint and the only way to repair/remove the scratch is to respray. Thou there is several products that will hide the scratch for a wile until a was or 3 later.

It depends whether it's a scratch in the paint/basecoat or in the clearcoat only. I've fixed many clearcoat scratches with one of those Verimark/Homemark pens.

That tells me the scratch does not go that deep. You could touch it up with some clear coat.

Best advice ^^^^^, those pens are cr@p.

what's clear coat? the verimark pen?

Technically the verimark pen could be considered clear coat but it's kuk, look closely.

I'm talking clear coat as in the stuff auto paint shops sell from BASF, 3M etc which is sprayed, sanded, polished to give you a good finish.

so this is not really a diy solution for me :(

Meguairs ScratchX
i have this and it works, but only lasts for 1 or 2 washes

Go get say 50ml of the clear coat stuff from a paint shop and try applying it with a good little hobby brush maybe. Ask the guys at the shop for some advice, they might have some useful tricks up their sleeves.

I don't think that ScratchX stuff will be of much use where the scratch penetrates the clear coat into the colour coat.

Lol this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLvMeOT0Iko of their's looks like a verimark infomercial. No ways that's gonna work on anything penetrating the clear coat and then they on to label rubbing compounds as useless and more harmful, what a load of BS.

If rubbing compound doesnt work, Look on groupon for guys offering paintless dent and scratch repair. That pen is crap btw.

Get hold of someone professional like Pravin from www.crazydetailer.co.za.

Based on what you have said, you have a shallow scratch which may have penetrated through the clearcoat and it can be removed. Glazing will not remove the scratch. A glaze is like a wax that will add shine, depth, richness to your paint. It will fill any imperfections that may not have been removed completely while polishing.

The process of removing a scratch is 1. Apply a scratch remover, typically a thick cream with fine abrasive minerals. 2. Polishing the car to remove other minor scratches and fine swirl marks 3. Apply wax or glaze to bring out the colors and 4. Most importantly, invest in a proper wash procedure which will not bring back the scratches.

The best thing is to call a professional detailer to help you with the job. You will also get an opportunity to learn preventative techniques to minimise scratches and swirl marks.

That makes sense. I always asked myself how these products could possibly fix a scratch...

Probably best to try someone like Dent Magic.

Will be a few hundred bucks.
