Oblivion had it since friday and scratched... anyone had any success with disc replacement ?

I received official confirmation from Microsoft that South Africa is covered under the disc replacement program...

http://www.lazygamer.co.za/xbox-360/xbox-disc-replacement-policy-covers-south-africa-official/

However Oblivion is not covered, the only games covered are
# Crackdown™
# Fuzion Frenzy 2
# Gears Of War®
# Halo® 2
# Kameo™: Elements of Power™
# Ninety Nine Nights™
# Perfect Dark Zero™
# Project Gotham Racing® 3
# Viva Piñata™
# Xbox Live® Arcade Unplugged Vol. 1

If it's only 4 days old and you did not move the Xbox then take the xbox and disc back and demand replacements... throw your toys ;)

Games that are published by Microsoft only ... Activision and others should really step up to the plate as there is clearly a problem with the Xbox360 in this regard.

I completely agree, I don't understand how they can legally not replace the discs though.

You pay for a licence, you should be able to get the material replaced as often as you want as you still hold the licence?

Assuming the machine isnt moved while it's being used how/why do certain disks get scratched and others dont?

I believe that it was the previous DVD-Rom (supplied by samsung?) that was causing discs to get scratched. M$ moved over to BenQ now and the issue seems to be sorted out now.
Any way of telling what drive I've got in mine? I'm assuming it is the old, crappy one but I havent had any problems with it yet.

I'd recommend in future. If buying CDS/Games always open the packaging infront of the cashier.. I was at Makro 2months ago. I noticed this guy open a game he bought guess what it was scractched.... Makro gladly swoped it out for him..

I was king of shocked... He even told me he learnt his lesson 2times and never again... (That guy must have bad luck)

Should i be taking it back to the shop where I bought it? or should i be contacting MS ? or should i be woried about my Xbox.. I had trouble with GOw as well..

It sounds like your xbox is a dud, phone the support number in the manual, get a reference number, take it back to the retailer, get a new one and demand they replace the disc as well.
