Any idea what the best way to clean the glass slightly without damaging?

Or am I stuck to toothpaste and brasso? ;)

I've never understood why the phone makers don't have accessories that come with the phone that can be bought at a relativly cheap price. Instead, they combine everything into the screen which means replacing the glass seems to be a huge job costing most the phone and not worth it :/

Did your phone at least come with a pouch? Even if it looks kark, a pouch will save your arse in the long run. As for cleaning, fingerprints dirt etc, I'm also keen to know...

No pouch or protetion of any kind on it :(

But the thing is they should build in some type of protection that can be replaced. I wouldn't mind buying a piece of plastic every months for R250.00

Erm - you can pick up screen protectors for just about every phone / device out there for next to nothing. I think I bought a pack of 10 for R75 (shared them out amongst my friends) - and that was just for a N95. I even had one on my ancient Sony Ericsson P800 (which was a touch phone)

So yeah .. there is replaceable "protetion" out there ...

Where?

I'm interested.

How does this screen protection effect the responsiveness of the touch screen? An included pouch still seems to be the best solution... Nobody sees the thing when it's in your pocket anyway...

I bought for my Palm Treo and yes, it does work. It was the little sticky screen that stuck to the main screen?

Didn't effect my responsiveness - but they needed to be replaced often because they scratched more easily than the screen itself. I'd rather pay R75.00 for one decent protector than a pack of 10 sticky things.

Plus what I found it did effect, was the screen quality (colours, resolution etc) because it seemed a little thick. Could have been the make though *shrug*

I used one once called "Screen Guard". It was so clear and thin you'll hardly notice it.

I saw this on the web, yes I googled it:D. It's just a bit expensive for what you get, but still cheaper than replacing your cell's screen.

I think it's the same type I used, but you do get model-specific ones that don't require cutting to size. If I'm not mistaken Vodashop stocks them. I also came across a washable screen protector once on some website. It was very expensive.

go to a website called www.overlayplus.com and get yourself a screen protector/shield. Its a bit expensive, but it is the best, I have bought from them for about 6 years now, everytime I got a touch screen phone, and it works like a charm (like I said, google some reviews and you will find them the best)

There is a product called Displex which is made specifically for cleaning and removing blemishes from LCD screens.

The quick (cheap) alternative is to use a small (just a tiny smear) amount of car polish on a soft cloth. If it's touch screen it's best done with the phone switch off or else you'll end up texting meaningless message to half the people in your phone book!

Always rub with small circular motions...

the best thing is to use a PROPER screen protecter. Not the cheapies you buy in 10 packs or the ones that come with the phone. Lots of people like the Brando one, I myself use Martin Fields. www.martinfields.com

There's a lot of things that make a difference in a proper screen protector. Amount of glare, UV protection, clarity, tactile response, strength etc.

If you have 5k to 9k phone, shelling out R200 for a decent screen protector is the least you can do.
