Rather have a device where it explodes in the cellphone thiefs hands or face and blows of the hands and face. I am sure that will stop them stealing a phone again

This method wont work, flash it and / or ditch it after short use and steal another one.

simple solution

Check out Samsung's D900 U-Track- that SMS's two people determined when you set up your phone, if the SIM card is changed, without the person who has changed the card knowing!
