My brother in law has a problem with his screencard, now i tried to do screenshots, but something funny happens.

The card is a ATI 9200 card. What happens is that when and only in media player, you play a dvd a piece of the bottom part of the video is cut off, and flickers at the top of the video. I loaded two codec packs that was recommended on this forum (all in one and a defiler) and it was unsucessfull.

I went and set the hardware accelaration to none, and then there was no video, so i set it back too full, and it worked, moved the slider to the left, working, and another setting left, then the video was gone, so it isnt that.

Its only in media player, and powerdvd works 100%

Any ideas?

Dont use media player and only use Powerdvd...

Try uninstall Powerdvd and see what happens in Media player (sometimes media player used the dvd codecs from power dvd) Other thing to try is install Media player 10.

It does have media player 10 installed with all service packs and patches. Powerdvd and all codecs have been uninstalled and it still gives the same problem.

Then I dont know, it has nothing to do with hardware (its software) just use power dvd. Does it do it with all dvd's or only that 1 ?

yes, all of them, yet i did have the exact same setup as him a year or so ago, and never ever had the problem.

Have you tried updating drivers? I had some video probs with a 9200 and an older version of ATI Catalyst.

I know it doesnt have the newest drivers, but it does have recent drivers, i think about 4 months old maybe, but will give it a try

Games play fine, as he is addicted to NFSMW at the mo, just dvd's in media player, normal videos and mpegs and such work fine.

Maybe the DVD player is giving out... try cleaning the DVD player with a head cleaner... Should be able to get one from hifi corp, CNA, incredible connection and pick&pay...

But if it was the DVD player packing up wouldn't the problem occur in PowerDVD as well ?

My hunch is that it's a codec gone bad somewhere .....

if that was true powerdvd would not have worked ...

its a software problem. fix the software.

Maybe you should loose all the dvd players and get BS Player... it has all the latest codecs and you never have to update it...

:D

first just try the latest ati drivers I had a problem with ati and hl2 games a while ago and my drivers were also recent and when i updated to the latest drivers everything was fixed
