So here's the story

Recently bought a Gigabyte Radeon 6870 and slotted it into my old'ish Intel core2duo pc. Games ran fine, but had artifacts in windows, especially during/after video playback. Thought I would just go and buy new components and it would sort it out (needed to upgrade anyway). Now the problem seems even worse. I have tried latest bios/drivers etc...

Specs:
Windows7 64bit
ASUS P8P67 mobo
Intel 2500k (not overclocked(yet))
2x4GB Corsair DDR3-1600
Gigabyte Radeon HD OC 6870 (not overclocked) (It is an overclocked card from the factory settings, but i havent touched it)
Corsair 600W PSU

Ideas/speculations/comments??

Cheers

I have seen this on older screen cards from a few years back when the memory on the display card is faulty.

Have you tried a different display card to see whether it is the card or not ?

My comment is that you don't know what OC means :p

From looking at the photo and what you describe, it looks like the card is either too hot, or defective. Since it's happening in Windows it might be the latter. What are the temperatures you're getting? Is the fan maybe stuck?

Yep i tried a 8800GT , worked 100%

Wasnt hitting big temps at all. Every single game ive tried runs flawlessly, this just happens in windows. Ive tried 32bit and 64bit

Fan is fine, temps are fine (no higher than 50C). The card is called 6870OC. So its a slight overclock from the supplier, but i havent touched anything after that

Yep, you've eliminated overheating so there's only one option left....

A factory overclock doesn't count as overclocking.
