Hi all..........

So, I have this annoying little thing that happens when I play games. Doesnt matter which game, its always there. My screen starts to "flicker"..........well, its hard to explain, its not a flicker, but it is. It only happens when I turn in a game, from side to side, up down etc. It doesnt lag at all. In BFBC 2 I am getting +-50 fps, MW2 +- 100fps bla bla bla, so its not lag. When in game and I change vsync it stops for awhile, then starts up again, switch vsync off, stops again for awhile. And its like this no matter what the resolution or refresh rate. Its as if the screen cant process everything quick enough. lines of info coming through at different stages type thing. Man its hard to explain. Artifacts and lag are easy to explain, this......nope. I have reseated the card, cables, etc and still the samem problem.

My specs:
i3 oc to 3.5ghz
Gigabyte gtx 460 oc to 850/1700/2100 (even at stock this happens)
4gigs DDR3 1333Mhz
Gigabyte 568W PSU
Samsung P249?H HD screen. (cant remember the last number. lol)

Any help would be appreciated guys.

upload a video to youtube so we can see? :)
My initial though was vsync but if you say it happens even with it on.. then it might be a problem with drivers..
Have you tried setting all things to low, and using vsync on to see what happens?
Might be time to RMA the card :p

It happened with my previous card.......5570 and I thought it was the card not coping. But even with the upgrade it happens.

Even with settings at low it happens.....eventually. After a few minutes. Doesn't make gameplay slower just annoying.

After a little research I have come up with a better way to explain the situation.......its similar to interlacing......except its the full screen and not as bad. I do t know.......it seems to me to be a refresh rate problem. When standing still its fine......as soon as I move it appears.

I think it is then a problem with your screen and/or it's setup... Have you gone through it's settings and disabled interlacing? Ensure the refresh rate of both your screen and windows/games are set to 60 Hertz.
Don't try up the refresh rate as this usually requires interlacing..
I'm not sure how your screens setup works, but if you are using Hi-def profiles that some TV's have ensure yours is set at 1080p and not 1080i

EDIT: have you tried resetting the settings of your screen to default?

I will head home tonight and go through all the setup info....but I'm almost positive its set to 60hz just like the game settings. Could be wrong though. From what I've read D3Doverdrive helps with these situations. Ie screen tearing. Will download that tonight as well. Thanks man......appreciate it.

Ground Loop.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground_loop_(electricity) I get this with my B2330H, doesn't bother me too much though. My brother also gets it with his 22 inch monitor. Though the link is only my speculation as I have run out of ideas. Do you notice it on shady backgrounds in games? Like in the menu of MW2 etc?

Right.......downloaded d3doverrider and forced vsync plus triple buffering. Checked refresh rate of screen.....60hz.......game setting all coincide with that and vsync enabled in game. Still getting screen tears. Driving me bonkers here. Its even in MW1 with LOW resolution the works. No matter what setting its on. Sigh.

I'm using a DVI cable.......will by any chance swopping to HDMI help? I know its the same signals and what not......but hey.

You're running the card too hot imo. Are you running it at 850 with stock cooler? Did u bump up memory as well? I see your CPU is also screaming at 3.5... Bring all clocks back to default and start there, maybe leave the side case open for testing.

GPU is running at 50 degrees under load and my CPU is running at 40-45 under load. Ambient they are both in the mid to high 20's. Even at stock this happens.........that's why I've ruled that out earlier on.

D3Doverrider has helped a bit...not going to lie. But it isn't where its meant to be. I remember when I had my xbox hooked up to the screen it was fine. Perfect in fact. Wondering why this is happening with my pc. No matter what CPU or GPU combination. Would memory play a part on this? I am running at 9-9-9-24. Don't think its that terrible to make such a difference...am I correct?

Lol unclock your card and than play the games, if your problem stops (which it will) than clock your card properly or not at all. Also note that your card don't need overclocking. I got a ATi 4890 and run it at stock (used to overclock but realised it a bit pointless) and I can run just about everyhing on max at 1080p using HDMI (the only exception being anything made by Crytek = crysis etc). If your look at reviews with newer cards they have started reviewing games at 2560 by something pixels just to make comparisons which shows you how good the current gen cards are.

Even when running at stock this happens, as I stated in my first post.

I would try get another cable and get another screen to test.
If it still happens then I think it is a software fault..

Been trying to get a screen from my GF work. Who happens to be my future father-in-law. You know how that goes. Lol. But yeah....will be able to test on friday at a mates house. So not want to fork out another two grand man. Damn hobbies......nay.....damn lifestyles.

Dude your screen shouldn't be doing this regardless. Stop messing with overrider and vsync and all that crap. Remove the card from your PC and test the onboard.
