I'm so Goth, my wrists slit themselves
I short listed these guys, I would rather go with HDMI then display port.

This is the cheapest I could find for this particular monitor.

What is the difference between this and the above monitor.

This one has a display port.

I guess I could go one smaller and get a 22", budget is 2.3K I prefer spending less if I can.But I quite like the S series. So what to do. ?

Decided to screw the dell monitors, I dislike that it has display port and VGA.Much rather have HDMI and VGA, however not going to pay a premium for pretty much the sameish monitor with HDMI connector.

It was either this or
phillips

or

telefunken

With the whole full HD debacle, Decided screw it, I had R350.00 in credit with takealot plus got an additional R150.00 discount using the takealot app, R1500.00 odd on school fees isn't too bad if the monitor ends up being shyte, it's not like it is going to be worse then on my previous entry LG screen I had, which to be honest was horribly washed out and required A fair amount of tweaking to get reasonable.

It's only a temp monitor for a bit till I can get enough cash for a proper 27" inch monitor, so not really too concerned if any thing I like to try new things for my self, and see how it goes, so far my gut hasn't proven me wrong yet.....so screw it lets see how much this school fees is going to annoy me. :P

Should have it next week and will report back, with either I have new monitor or nothing as I sent back :D

Nice setup. ;) A little impractical for me I could like use two screens especially for the modeling, I actually found that 32" inch I am working on now is considerably better then the LG. I can't believe I did all my work on a 20 inch monitor all this time ;)

While the 32" inch TV isn't exactly great, the picture is actually decent, only drawback is text being a little fuzzy, which is Fing up my eyes, and have to take far more breaks then I am use to, which is why I am forced to get a new monitor, and that my graphics card only had digital outputs.Oddly The LCD TV I am using for some or other reason has better picture quality using the active display port to VGA convertor then the straight up HDMI cable. And it's actually displaying 1080p quite brilliantly, where as the HDMI when you scale up to 1080p there is picture contrast issue with the desktop background image over exposed.

Don't know if it's down to the cable or actually just crappy HDMI on the part of the LCD, I have a DVI-D to HDMI connector definitely want to see if there is any difference.

Definitely going to check this telefunken monitor at 1080p any minor text or image issues it's going straight back in the box to takealot.

I am aiming to get some thing like this by year end, then hope to use the 24 inch as a additional monitor.

I'd really give that Telefunken a skip, looks super cheap and dodgy.

Stick with reputable monitor brands like Dell, Samsung, LG, Philips, etc.

Asus and Acer are making great monitors too but more focused at gaming.

You are aware there are like 5+- odd panel makers out there, so you likely any way end up with an LG or a samsung, sharp even Delta panel any ways, there isn't a super dodgy manufacture of telefunken panels, it doesn't exist period, every one raves about that LG but they use to be goldstar before they rebranded, and every ones advise was stay away from them and look now.

They are only responsible for the plastic frame and base even that is possibly contracted out, and then finally the controller. Honestly, the days of smirking at the cheaper screens is really over and has been for a while, I have a hisense phone which kicks ass, hisense TV which kicks ass all much much much cheaper brands.

How exactly is the screen going to be dodgy and super cheap ? That is the reasoning I am using, for giving them a try, the fact is they are pretty much on par price wise with other manufacturers, with maybe R300.00 odd in it for the cheapest dell, where do you start paying for the monitor and where do you stop paying with the brand name.Knowing that you still want to call the monitor dodgy because it is telefunken knowing it likely has an LG panel under the hood.

Would it be less or more dodgy if I slap a Won ton chop suey sticker on it ?

Pretty important parts if you ask me.

Let us know how it is when you get it, would be interested to hear.

Sjoe, you are sorted for the vape-pocalypse, aren't you? You probably have much more still steeping?

On that note, is there any risk in blowing clouds at/around your screens?
Lol, Ye. I go through about 30ml a day, so always got some steeping.

My screens seem fine with all the vaping, but I always have a window or door open. Would choke in the clouds otherwise.

Monitor arrived.

Happy as a pig in mud, No edge bleeding, contrast is good, nice flesh tones, the screen it self has a pretty decent thick plastic cover, the pattern isn't exactly pretty around the edges. Not overly bright, the base plate is nice and thick, the only issue is the base plate connects with a clip in tube, it's pretty thick, but much rather prefer screw in base plate.

No pixelation and actually does 1080P :)
